AGM and the like

Not sure where March has disappeared to, but here we are just about three weeks from OFHSA’s Annual Meeting and Conference.

I’ve posted the resolutions for you to review with your associations, under “Things to Print”

Why not post your questions or concerns here, good spot to start a dialogue on these.

Was wondering as well if there are any fun fairs, or spring type events planned at your schools – would be great to hear about them.

Internet Safety

When the W.H. Morden Association hosted an “Internet Safety Night” back in February, the response was loud and clear.  This is an issue parents and teachers want information about!

Microsoft Canada, in cooperation with Bell Canada has developed a web site which has many helpful hints and information.    Check out  www.bewebaware.ca as well as  www.media-awarness.ca  (under our links menu).

I have posted tip sheets, by age, under Things to Print which parents will find very useful.

News from Halton Board

The HDSB is seeking parent input for it’s “Mission Statement”  a number of meetings are planned.  Dates and locations are posted under “Dates, Meetings and Agendas”.

Thursday April 26 @ 7pm is scheduled time for the next PIC meeting.  Check out “Dates, Meetings and Agenda’s” to print a copy of the agenda.

Remember – any member of your association can attend these meetings!   We’re working hard to increase Halton Council’s profile (and therefore, H/S’s) at the Board,  so let’s get out there and voice our members feelings!

Finally we STILL need a member to sit on the HDSB SEAC committee.   H/S is entitled to have someone representing our members on this board.  PLEASE spread the word so we can fill this position.   You can contact Don Vrooman for further information.

Just in time for Spring!

Can you feel the excitement?  After many various types of delays – our blog is up and running again!

First of all, I want to remind everyone  Conference is set for:   April 20 to 22 in Brantford.   PLEASE be sure to review the resolutions package with your members.  If you did not receive a package (arrived just before March Break)  let me  know and I’ll foward one to you.

At our last meeting  we were able  to have author James  Gillam speak with us.  Jim has written a couple of books, with a space theme aimed at boys – grades 4 and up.  Council has purchased one copy of both the books for our Association schools to present to your librarian.   This is a new endeavour for Halton Council, one I hope will be precedent setting.  We will have these available for your  your association reps. at the April meeting.

That’s it for now.   I will be updating our site every few days over the next while to catch up on missed information…  so be sure to check back.
