Is anybody out there involved in the PLCs (Primary Language Class)? The Board is currently reviewing this program by committee and will be making decisions in November or December. Please make your voice heard if your child is involved in this or an ELDC.

This is from MACSE (Minister’s Advisory Council on Special Education)

On-line Support for Parents and Students in the Development of the IEP
Funding has been provided to the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO) to work collaboratively with the Ministry of Education and parents across the province to develop a website that will be a resource to parents and students regarding their consultative role in the development and implementation of the IEP.
The website is being designed to reflect the needs of both the English and French-language parents and students. Website development is ongoing and it is anticipated that the site will be live by November 2009.

Well folks, it looks like the Primary Language class will remain 2yrs in length and will remain part of the IPRC process. Thank you to the parents who were part of this process — both writing letters and handing back surveys. Your voice DOES make a difference and Staff seemed grateful for your assistance and participation. We want to thank HDSB for their openness, allowing parent input for the decision.

Community Input Sessions had about 57 participants. We were grateful for the input. If you came, thank you for your time, which we know is precious. The results are being collated now and will be included with the input from administrators from both elementary and secondary schools as well as priority lists from SEAC Associations. This information will help us with the Special Education Plan review this spring and hopefully be reflected in positive changes for students this fall.
